August is fast approaching an end and it indicates only one thing to the Apple-loving-smartphone world, we are getting ever closer to the official announcement from Apple relating to the sixth-generation iphone release. September 12th is the day on which we believe Apple will be holding their press event to introduce us all to the new iPhone, and although, it has yet to be officially confirmed by the world’s a lot of useful company, there has been overwhelming evidence that something is happening, and soon.
One of America’s largest retail outlets, Walmart, are now doing their bit to fuel the new iphone rumors by implementing a price-drop across multiple stores that will see the 16GB iphone 4S flying off their shelves for a mere $148. The in-store Walmart deal is officially beginning today and represents a saving of $40 per handset for consumers who may be in the market to get themselves a little 4S-related bargain before Apple announces their new smartphone in the coming weeks.
The deal is being rolled out in multiple stores across the United States, although Walmart aren’t actually proactively using customers information about the stores that will be participating. This could indicate it is a staggered rollout, or it could be down to the store’s internal decision, but Walmart is recommending that potential purchasers must contact their local store to see if they are taking part in the offer. The $40 saving applies to the iphone 4S 16GB model being purchased with a minimum term contract with either AT&T, Sprint or Verizon, although if you happen to opt for AT&T, then be prepared to have some customer service fallout when you attempt to use FaceTime over cellular when iOS 6 officially drops.
Walmart is just one of the current stores to offer some pretty respectable price drops in store for customers who are seeking to take an iphone contract out now with the 4S, additionally fuelling speculation that the new iphone from Apple is just around the corner. personally speaking, at such a delicate time in the release schedule, I would always wait until the new hardware is released before making any purchase, but with company is seeking to offload their current stock levels, then these discounts make best sense and do represent a respectable deal for the consumer.
